Jesus said to a man who was healed: “Go home to
your people and report to them what great things the Lord has done for you, and
how He had mercy on you.”
(Mark 5:19 NASB).

The first major theme of Not All Roads Lead Home* is the reconciling power of God:
“…God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation” (2 Corinthians 5:19).
The second major theme is God’s all-sufficiency:
“…his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness…” (2 Peter 1:2 – emphasis added).
In that book, as I wrote about the second theme of our story, I aimed to show that those who put their trust in God have all they need from him, whatever their circumstances. By then, my husband and I had lived an ocean away from home for ten years. His work was global. God faithfully steadied us through everything, including adjustments and scary events that could have pushed against faith. God used all to strengthen it.
Many ferociously mock God today. Many ridicule the Bible. He prepared us for this, and we have only to think of the Cross in order to be reassured. There, it seemed everything had failed. Yet, resurrection was just ahead and the world changed forever by it. This truth proclaims the world’s renewal.
It is important to remember that God’s truth is unchangeable. That is part of what is behind attacks on its record, the Bible. Yet, the Bible’s truth remains available for everyone—a thrilling fact. In the centuries since Christ’s resurrection, those who have killed printers, translators, distributors, preachers, and teachers of the Bible have not succeeded, as more fruitfulness came forth for the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Truly, Jesus Christ did come into this world, begotten of the Spirit of God, born of a virgin; he did walk the earth as man and as God, yet not divided within himself; he did preach by every word, silence, action, and stillness; he did die for the sins of the world, reconciling man to God; his work was finished, completed, on the Cross; God did bring him back to life in a transformed, resurrected body; Jesus does sit at the right hand of God as Intercessor for his people.
You who belong to him also died with him and were set free in new life:
“For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace” (Romans 6:14).
As a writer, you need experience, skills, and imagination. However, the most important qualification is trust in the living God, through his Son, Jesus. Acting in trust and led by God’s truth, writers reject meaningless entanglements. Evaluating experience, knowledge, and beliefs by the Scriptures, and submitting to God by faith in his Son, we learn more about writing to glorify and praise God. It is work that never grows dull.
