Jesus said to a man who was healed: “Go home to
your people and report to them what great things the Lord has done for you, and
how He had mercy on you.”
(Mark 5:19 NASB).

Memory influences perspectives mightily.
When our chief remembrances are experiences of pain, then negative human experiences form our writing focus.
When we remember God first, then He forms the focus of everything we write. Whether we preach, teach, encourage, tell an enjoyable story, or poetically express our thoughts and hopes…whatever we are doing, our divine focus is God and His truth, love, faithfulness, eternal purposes, and mighty help for those who call on Him through His beloved Son, Jesus.
“Thou shalt have no other gods before Me” (Exodus 20:3).
He wants us to look to Him and to turn to Him. This glorifies Him, and helps and protects us every day.
From the earliest generations, God has remembered us:
“If ye walk in my statutes, and keep my commandments, and do them;…Then will I remember my covenant with Jacob, and also my covenant with Isaac, and also my covenant with Abraham will I remember; and I will remember the land” (Leviticus 26:3, 42).
“But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day” (Deuteronomy 5:15).
God always remembers us! He who gave His law still gives life through His Son, who fulfilled that law. Oh, to know Christ more!
Who or what are we remembering right now? Is it our Egypt, our place of bondage to sin? Is it a hurt of the past, of yesterday, or of this day? Is it illness, failure, rejection, or loss? Is it something wrongly done to others and to ourselves? Is it a Person—Jesus Christ, our Lord?
Remember the most important remembrance. Serving the Passover cup and bread to His closest disciples, Jesus said to take it “in remembrance of Me.” He is our chief remembrance daily, before any of our pain or suffering! He broke the bread and blessed it before breaking it. Let us remember to thank Him for being the Bread of life for us!
Remember salvation, purchased by His body and blood. Remember His advent, life, death, and resurrection. Remember His call to us, favoring whomever would come to Him. Remember His promise never to leave or forsake us.
Let us remember, together—and grow in God to persevere, as Jesus persevered; to obey our Father in heaven, as Jesus obeyed; to forgive, as Jesus forgave; to strive to overcome, in Jesus. Let us be determined to remember…Jesus.
And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying,
This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me.
—Luke 22:19
Yea, I think it meet, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting you in remembrance…—2 Peter 1:13
